MORE INFORMATION:
Transport for Sick Children’s sole mission is to relieve the health needs of children by the voluntary provision of transport to and from hospitals, clinics and outpatient departments for children and their carers who live in and around Greater Manchester. The total health needs of the child are our first consideration. The service is available to any children and their carers who are referred by a health, education or social services professional.
The charity office is based in Reddish, Stockport and we operate all over Greater Manchester, from Wigan to Oldham, Bolton to Trafford – we cover it!
We need caring and patient volunteers living in Manchester (City) with their own cars who are able to transport sick and disabled children to medical appointments – this is a long term opportunity.
Requirements:
You must be 21 years and over.
Hold a full driving licence for at least 3 years and be a confident driver.
We need a commitment of around 6 hours per week but this is flexible.
The recruitment process takes around 4 weeks and an enhanced DBS check is required – free for volunteers.
Practical Considerations:
You will need to be a confident driver with an interest in improving children’s health outcomes.
This opportunity isn’t suitable for those seeking employment as it is a long term commitment.
We reimburse at £0.41p per mile from your home address and try to give as much notice as possible – you decide what you want to do and what you don’t.
There is some waiting involved at hospitals – we will cover all hospital parking costs if they are incurred.
Child car seats are provided.
